Sunrise residents can stop commercial solicitors by posting a no-soliciting sign. A registered solicitor who ignores a posted home or canvasses outside allowed hours violates city Code Chapter 7. Protected canvassers remain exempt.
Sunrise enforces no-soliciting protections through Chapter 7, Article VII of the city code. A clearly posted no-soliciting sign is binding on commercial solicitors, and a registered solicitor who knocks at a posted home, or canvasses outside the hours the ordinance allows, violates the permit terms. These protections apply to commercial sales only; charitable, religious, and political canvassers keep their constitutional right to approach a home regardless of a sign. Residents can report violations to Community Enhancement and Code Compliance at (954) 572-2344.
A solicitor who ignores a posted no-soliciting sign or knocks outside permitted hours faces a citation and possible revocation of the Sunrise solicitor permit issued under city Code §7-267.
