A garage- or yard-sale sign is a temporary sign in Sunrise and must stay on the property where the sale is held. City Community Enhancement & Code Compliance guidance allows no more than two yard-sale signs on your own property. The sign code (Land Development Code ch. 16) prohibits off-premises signs, snipe signs (tacked to poles, trees, or utility boxes), and any private sign placed on public property or in the right-of-way (Sec. 16-248 and Sec. 16-247). On-site temporary commercial signs are capped at 6 sq. ft., set back at least 10 ft. from the right-of-way, and limited to one week within any six-month period under Table 3. No permit is required for a temporary sign.
Signs placed on medians, roadsides, swales, poles, or trees are "unauthorized, and subject to removal and disposal" by code-compliance officers, who work weekends. Refused or repeat violations proceed through the City's code-enforcement process.
