Clayton County, GA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Sec. 22-612 requires a solicitor's permit for any person who goes door to door or house to house in the unincorporated county's residential areas selling, soliciting orders, canvassing or surveying, whether for profit, charity or religion, on a temporary or permanent basis. Applicants complete a questionnaire under Sec. § 16-10-71. Sec. 00 permit fee, paid before the county police department reviews the application and photographs the applicant. A completed permit is valid for 90 days from issuance under Sec. 22-615 and must be worn on outer clothing at all times while soliciting under Sec.

22-617; lending, renting or selling the permit card to someone else is unlawful under Sec. 22-616. Representatives of registered charitable, nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations are exempt from the permit fee, though not from the permit itself, once they file proof of status with the business license division under Sec. 22-601(b). under Sec. 22-603, may not exceed two people soliciting the same premises for the same goods at once under Sec. 22-604, and may not call more than once at the same address for identical goods without a prior invitation under Sec. 22-606.
