Muskegon County, MI Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 4(2) of the Muskegon County Parks Ordinance, adopted June 14, 2022, states that any person may only use specific areas or facilities within County Park Property to the exclusion of others by making application per established County procedures and being granted a permit by the County or its designee. Section 19, titled 'Rentals,' backs that permit system with two prohibitions: no person on County Park Property shall occupy or use a reserved facility when that facility is reserved by another person per established County procedures, and no person shall hinder, interrupt, or interfere with any authorized use, including a permit granted to exclude others from a facility.

Section 12(1)(d) further requires anyone using a facility reservation, whether the renter or an attendee, to obey the posted rules of that reservation, including bans on moving furniture, using staples or tacks, and littering (including confetti). Fees for reservations are set under Section 5 of the ordinance's fee schedule. Enforcement of the reservation rules runs through Muskegon County Parks and Recreation staff and Muskegon County Sheriff's Office deputies as authorized in Section 1, and violations are prosecuted as municipal civil infractions and misdemeanors under Section 20.
