Ridgewood treats above-ground pools as accessory structures requiring rear-yard placement, zoning permits, and compliance with setbacks under Section 190-124T of the Village Code.
The Village of Ridgewood's zoning code includes above-ground and on-ground pools within its definition of swimming pools whenever water depth exceeds 24 inches. Above-ground pools must be located only in the rear yard and must meet the minimum front yard depth from the front lot line. Decking, patios, and equipment associated with the pool count toward lot coverage and must satisfy side and rear setbacks. A zoning permit from the Village must be obtained before installation, and electrical service to the pool requires a separate UCC permit and inspection.
Placing an above-ground pool in a side or front yard, or installing without a permit, is enforced through stop-work orders and fines under the zoning chapter.
