Round Rock follows Texas Health & Safety Code Β§757 for pool barrier requirements. A minimum 48-inch fence with self-latching, self-closing gates is required around all residential swimming pools.
Under Texas Health & Safety Code Β§757 and Round Rock's adopted building codes, all residential swimming pools must be enclosed by a barrier at least 48 inches (4 feet) in height. Gates must be self-latching (latch on the pool side) and self-closing. The barrier must have no openings large enough to allow a 4-inch sphere to pass through. Permanent pool fencing must be permitted and inspected by Round Rock Development Services before the pool may be used. Above-ground pool walls that are at least 48 inches may serve as the required barrier if the ladder is secured.
Operating a pool without compliant fencing: fines up to $2,000. Pool must be closed until compliant barrier is installed and inspected.
