Summary
Unincorporated Mendocino County requires refuse carts to be kept closed and sanitary, set out no more than 12 hours before pickup, removed within 12 hours after, and stored at least 10 feet from the road. Under no circumstances may the Containers be left continuously at the point of collection where the point of collection is at the edge of the vehicular right-of-way.

Violations & Fines
A cart left at the collection point in violation of the removal requirement may be tagged with a notice of violation. For repeated violations the Enforcement Officer may direct the franchised collector to cancel service and remove the container. Sanitation and accumulation issues can also be abated as a nuisance under Chapter 8.75.
