Indianapolis requires carts at the curb by 7 AM on collection day and retrieved by 7 AM the following day per Rev. Code Β§381-303. Carts stored out of public view between pickups.
Under Rev. Code Β§381-303, residents must place 96-gallon DPW carts at the curb no earlier than 6 PM the evening before collection and no later than 7 AM on collection day. Carts must be retrieved from the curb by 7 AM the day after pickup. Between pickups, carts must be stored behind the front building line, in a garage, side yard, or other location screened from the public right-of-way. Carts must be at least 3 feet from parked cars, mailboxes, and utility poles with the lid opening toward the street. Damaged or stolen carts are replaced by DPW free of charge once per year.
Carts visible from street: warning, then $50 to $200 per Β§381-303. Cart left at curb beyond deadline: $50 citation. Chronic violators: code enforcement letter.
