Indio residents get free bulky-item pickup from Burrtec. Call at least 48 business hours before your regular collection day to schedule; place up to four items at the curb by 6:00 a.m. The service can be used weekly at no charge. E-waste also qualifies for bulky pickup.
The City of Indio offers a generous, free bulky-item collection program through Burrtec. Per the city's Recycling Service Guide: 'In order to dispose of large, bulky items that do not fit in the regular trash barrel, residents can contact Burrtec (48 business hours prior to your regularly scheduled service day) at (760) 340-2113 to schedule a Bulky Item Pick-up. You may place up to four items at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your regular trash day. This service can be used weekly and is offered at no charge to residents.' Accepted bulky items include large and small appliances, furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, bicycles, swing sets, barbecues, rolled and bundled carpet (bundles not exceeding 4 feet), computer monitors, laptops, and standard or LCD televisions up to 37 inches (larger TVs need special handling). Electronic waste is also collected via the same bulky-item process — up to four items, 48 hours' notice, free, weekly. Items NOT accepted include tires, building/construction materials, bagged household trash, industrial or business waste, hazardous waste, and engines or car parts. The city encourages donating items in good condition to local charities. Used motor oil (up to five gallons) and Christmas trees also have free scheduled curbside pickup through Burrtec.
Bulky items must be scheduled with Burrtec (760) 340-2113 with 48 business hours' notice; unscheduled bulky items or prohibited materials (tires, construction debris, hazardous waste) won't be collected. Illegal dumping of bulky items is a Code violation investigated by Indio PD Code Enforcement under IMC Chapter 12.
