On January 1, 2022, the County instituted a residential bulk-item collection program; each single-family home and town home receives at least one bulk collection per year, with a limit of three bulk items per collection. Acceptable items include appliances, furniture, mattresses, building materials, and electronics. Certain items need preparation (carpets rolled and tied, lawn mowers with gas tanks and wheels removed, metal sheds broken down); no item over 8 feet in length is accepted. Excluded items include pianos, boats, tires, auto parts, cast iron or concrete, pressure vessels, and liquids. Items with rechargeable batteries must have the batteries removed. Residents may also self-deliver bulk items to a County acceptance facility free, up to six trips per year.
