Ann Arbor won't collect large or bulky items in curbside carts. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, scrap metal and construction debris go to the Drop-Off Station or Wheeler Service Center for a fee; appliances carry a per-item Freon-removal fee.
Per Solid Waste Regs R2:6, large items can't go in city containers. The Drop-Off Station (2950 E. Ellsworth Rd.) and the W.R. Wheeler Service Center (4150 Platt Rd.) accept scrap metal, household appliances, mattresses, furniture and construction debris for a fee. Household hazardous products go to Washtenaw County's Home Toxics Reduction Program, and electronics are taken to the Drop-Off Station rather than curbside.
Prohibited bulky items placed in carts won't be collected; residents must haul them to a facility, and improper dumping is separately illegal.
