4.04 Holidays. Under the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government's solid waste collection contract (Sec. 4.04), New Year's Day, Mardi Gras, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and any other LCG-designated holiday are recognized contract holidays. The hauler can suspend curbside collection on the holiday itself, but must still complete at least one pickup per residential unit that week, so routes shift rather than disappear. Separately, Exhibit B guarantees an extra bulky-waste and loose-bag pickup the week after Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Easter. This contract covers both the City of Lafayette and the rural (unincorporated) parish; Broussard, Carencro, Duson, Scott, Youngsville and Milton run their own services.
Violations & Fines
There's no resident penalty for a holiday shift. If the hauler fails to service a route at all, LCG can fine the contractor $25 per residential unit per day of delay, starting the second day (Sec. 4.06).
