Chesterfield County has no municipal curbside garbage pickup. Residential trash disposal and recycling are provided by private waste companies you contract with directly, so pickup day, container, and setout rules come from your chosen hauler.
Unlike many localities, Chesterfield does not collect household trash at the curb. The Waste and Resource Recovery Division states that residential trash and recycling services are provided by private waste management companies operating in the area, and residents arrange service through a direct relationship with a private hauler. That means collection frequency, cart type, and set-out times are set in your hauler contract, not by a county ordinance. Residents who prefer not to subscribe can self-haul household trash to either county convenience center (fees apply) or drop recycling there for free.
There is no county pickup ordinance to violate; disputes are contractual with your hauler. Letting trash accumulate on the property, however, is a Community Enhancement code violation subject to abatement and lien.
