Loudoun County does not provide municipal trash pickup β residents in unincorporated areas contract with private haulers (Patriot Disposal, Republic Services, American Disposal). Towns of Leesburg and Purcellville offer municipal service.
Unlike most Virginia counties, Loudoun County does not operate a municipal trash and recycling collection service for unincorporated areas. Residents contract directly with private licensed haulers: Patriot Disposal, Republic Services, American Disposal Services, and others serving Ashburn, Sterling, Brambleton, South Riding, Lansdowne, Broadlands, and western Loudoun rural communities. Most HOAs in eastern Loudoun contract community-wide service. Trash carts placed curbside by the hauler's designated morning time (typically 6-7 AM) on assigned pickup days; retrieval within 12-24 hours of pickup required under county ordinance. Loudoun operates the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility (landfill) on Evergreen Mills Road. Towns of Leesburg and Purcellville provide their own municipal trash service. Residential recycling is single-stream in most communities; electronics and hazardous waste require drop-off at Loudoun recycling events.
Unretrieved carts: $50-$200 code violation. Illegal dumping at landfill gates: up to $2,500 under VA Code Β§33.2-802. Unlicensed hauling: VDEQ enforcement with separate penalties.
