Georgetown provides weekly curbside trash and every-other-week recycling through Texas Disposal Systems. Collection runs 7 a.m.-7 p.m. (6 a.m.-7 p.m. in summer). No pickup occurs on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, and pickups slide one day after those holidays.
The City of Georgetown contracts curbside collection to Texas Disposal Systems (TDS). Residential service includes weekly landfill (trash) collection and biweekly (every-other-week) single-stream recycling. Collection trucks run between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during the standard season and between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. during summer hours, so carts must be out before the start of that window. Residents find their assigned collection day and recycling week using the TDS Waste Wizard website or app, which also offers text, email, and calendar reminders. There is no collection on three observed holidays: New Year's Day (Jan. 1), Thanksgiving (Nov. 27), and Christmas (Dec. 25). For customers whose pickup day falls on or after one of these holidays, solid-waste pickup slides one day for the remainder of that week. Questions about service or missed pickups go to Georgetown Customer Care at 512-930-3640 or to TDS at 512-930-1715. Georgetown's underlying nuisance ordinance (Sec. 8.20.080) requires refuse to be disposed of in accordance with TDS policies, tying the operational collection rules back to the Code of Ordinances.
Setting out non-conforming or untagged material results in items being left behind by TDS rather than a fine. Disposing of refuse outside the TDS collection system, such as dumping it on property or in the right-of-way, is a nuisance under Sec. 8.20.080 enforceable by Code Compliance.
