The county Solid Waste & Recycling program assigns exclusive franchise territories to haulers: Republic Services serves most of Beaverton, Aloha, and Cedar Mill; Pride Disposal covers Sherwood, Tualatin, and parts of Tigard; Waste Management handles parts of Hillsboro and Forest Grove; Hillsboro Garbage Disposal serves downtown Hillsboro. Standard residential service is weekly garbage, every-other-week recycling (paper/cardboard/metal/plastic), and every-other-week glass (separate bin) alternating with yard debris. Yard debris collection runs year-round. Carts must be curbside by 6 AM on service day. Cities inside the county are covered by the same franchise system; rates are set by the Board of County Commissioners. Metro regional oversight influences recycling content rules through Metro Code Chapter 5.01. Holiday delay: pickup shifts one day when a holiday falls on or before your service day. Missed-pickup reports go directly to your hauler within 24 hours.
