Unincorporated Marion County has no franchised curbside recycling collection. Residential garbage and rubbish go out through a private franchise hauler under Chapter 16, Article II, but recyclables are handled separately: owners or occupants of residential property may bring recyclable materials to one of the county's staffed recycling centers, at no charge, as long as the solid waste assessment on that property is current. Use of the centers is optional, not mandatory.
