Scottsdale provides curbside recycling collection for single-family residences. The city's single-stream recycling program accepts paper, cardboard, metal cans, glass bottles, and plastic containers (#1-5, #7). Scottsdale does not have a mandatory multifamily recycling ordinance but encourages voluntary participation.
Scottsdale Solid Waste Services provides single-stream curbside recycling for single-family residential customers. Accepted materials include: paper and cardboard (flattened), aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastics #1-5 and #7. Items should be clean, dry, and loose in the container (no bagging). Contamination from non-recyclable items, food-soiled materials, or plastic bags is a significant issue. Items NOT accepted include: plastic bags, Styrofoam, food-soiled paper, clothing, electronics, hazardous materials, and yard waste. Multi-family properties can voluntarily participate in recycling programs but are not mandated. The city provides educational resources about proper recycling. Scottsdale also hosts periodic special collection events for electronics, household hazardous waste, and other items not accepted in curbside programs.
Contaminated recycling containers may not be collected. Persistent contamination may result in service adjustments.
