Anaheim Municipal Code requires customers to repair on-site leaks promptly and to report visible water main, hydrant, or street leaks to Anaheim Public Utilities, especially during state drought stages when waste of water is prohibited.
Under AMC Title 10 water conservation rules, APU customers must repair plumbing or irrigation leaks within a reasonable period after notice, typically five business days for minor leaks and shorter for active running water. Visible leaks at meters, hydrants, or in the public right-of-way should be reported to APU's 24-hour dispatch line. During declared drought stages, allowing water to flow off the property to gutters or storm drains becomes a code violation. APU may issue conservation notices and, after repeated noncompliance, install a flow restrictor or terminate service until repairs occur.
Ignoring repair notices, runoff onto sidewalks or streets, or failure to fix a known leak after notice can result in fines, flow restrictors, and ultimately water service termination.
