Yuba County, CA Animal Ordinances: Chickens & Livestock (2026)

Yuba County's animal-raising standards apply countywide to barns, coops, stables, and corrals: none may sit closer than 50 feet to an abutting dwelling (except caretaker quarters) or closer than 100 feet to a well or year-round creek or river. Livestock can't be kept in front yards on parcels inside the valley growth boundary, and any parcel there keeping livestock must be at least one acre. Outside the growth boundary, most of the county's agricultural and rural land, the acreage floor doesn't apply, though the setbacks still do.
