Bristol Borough Chapter 2 (Animals) requires all dogs to be leashed when off the owner's property. Under the 2019 dog protection ordinance, Bristol Borough became the first municipality in Bucks County to mandate that dogs be brought indoors during severe weather. Dogs living outside must have adequate shelter; during severe storms, bitter cold, or sweltering heat, dogs must be brought inside (house, basement, or garage). An unattended dog β whether in a fenced yard or tethered β cannot be left outdoors for more than 30 minutes in bad weather. An Animal Control Officer appointed by Borough Council enforces the animal ordinances and the PA Dog Law of 1982. All dogs must be licensed annually per PA Dog Law (3 P.S. Β§459-101+).
At-large: impoundment and fines. Weather violation: $500 fine. No license: PA Dog Law penalties.
