San Joaquin County Code Title 4, Division 9 prohibits dogs from running at large on public property. Dogs must be restrained by a leash on public property and confined on private property by a fence, structure, or leash. Dog licensing required annually under County Ordinance 6-1005.
SJC Ordinance Title 4, Division 9, Chapter 1 (Animal Services β Β§4-9019) establishes that no owner or custodian shall allow a dog to remain at large on any public property without leash restraint. On private property, dogs must be fenced, confined to a structure, or restrained by a leash. Dogs must not trespass on the private property of another without the property owner's consent. Annual dog licenses are required under County Ordinance 6-1005: $30/year for unaltered animals; $10/year for spayed or neutered animals. Animal Services is operated through the Sheriff's Office at (209) 953-6073. Cat licensing is not required in San Joaquin County.
