Dogs in Lodi must be on a leash no longer than six feet whenever they are in public; off-leash is only permitted inside designated areas of Beckman Park, Vinewood Park, and the west side of Lodi Lake Park, sunrise to sunset, under voice control.
The City of Lodi enforces leash requirements under Title 6 (Animals) of the Lodi Municipal Code. Per the City's official Responsible Pet Ownership guidance, dogs in public must be controlled by a leash no longer than six feet. Leashed dogs are allowed on sidewalks, paved trails, roadways, designated grass areas, and parking lots. Off-leash is only allowed inside the City's three designated off-leash dog areas (Beckman Park, Vinewood Park, and the west side of Lodi Lake Park) between sunrise and sunset, and each dog must remain under voice control at all times. All dogs over four months of age must also be licensed and rabies-vaccinated under Lodi Municipal Code 6.12.010, and the license tag must be worn on the collar or harness at all times.
Off-leash dogs outside designated areas, and unlicensed dogs, are subject to impoundment and citation by Lodi Animal Services. The pet license itself carries fees of $10/year (altered) or $50/year (unaltered) with a $50 late fee and $5 replacement-tag fee under Lodi Municipal Code 6.12.010. Animal Services contact: 209-333-6741.
