Exotic and wild animals are tightly controlled in Paulding County. Under Chapter 14, Section 14-86, no person may own, harbor, or keep a wild animal in the county without first receiving a written license from the Animal Control Department. Licensing under Section 14-87 requires proof of adequate public-safety safeguards and confirmation that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was notified and did not object. Licensed premises must post conspicuous notice that a wild animal is kept there. On top of the county rule, Georgia's wild-animal and wildlife statutes bar private possession of many species outright. Animals held in violation can be impounded and, after a court order, destroyed or rehabilitated.
