Lakewood, CO Animal Ordinances: Veterinary Clinic Zoning (2026)

Animal Care covers any facility where animals are groomed, treated, trained, exercised, boarded or socialized, which reaches veterinary clinics and kennels. Zoned as a limited or special use depending on the district, these facilities must keep all animals confined indoors; exterior pens are allowed only for daytime supervised exercise and training, cannot sit in front of the primary structure, and must be set back at least 20 feet from a side or rear line. Where the facility is next to an existing residential use, indoor cage or pen areas cannot have operable windows, doors or other wall penetrations facing that residence.
