Garage Sale Signs

Boca Raton has no sign category written specifically for garage sales, so a sign advertising one is governed as a general temporary sign under Code Sec. 24-104(1): banned from the right-of-way and from poles or trees, and displayable for no more than 45 days in a rolling year.

Holding the underlying sale without the required Sec. 28-1311 permit, beyond 4 days a year, on more than 2 consecutive days, or outside 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is a separate code violation subject to enforcement.

Political Signs

Political signs are regulated in Boca Raton as noncommercial temporary signs under Code Sec. 24-104(3). Residential properties are capped at 3 square feet per street frontage normally, but the 45-day annual display limit is lifted and the size cap rises to 18 square feet during the 45 days before any election.

A person posting more than 10 right-of-way election signs who fails to remove them within 5 days forfeits the required $500 cash bond, which the city applies toward removal and disposal.

Digital Billboards

Boca Raton regulates electronic and digital signs under Code Sec. 24-101, requiring factory-set, password-protected brightness limits and a default shutoff on malfunction. Displays must stay static, changing no more than three times a day and never more often than once every four hours.
