Bin Placement Rules

Eagle Mountain requires solid waste containers to sit at least three feet from a neighboring property line under EMMC 8.05.330, and automated carts need five feet of clearance from any object, including other containers, plus 14 feet of clearance overhead. No container may be placed where it creates a nuisance.

Collection Schedule

Eagle Mountain requires solid waste to be collected at least once a week under EMMC 8.05.420, with more frequent removal required if waste would otherwise overfill containers, attract rodents, or create a fire or health hazard. Every residential and multifamily dwelling owner is billed monthly for the mandatory service under EMMC 8.05.350.

Bulk Item Disposal

Eagle Mountain lets residents set out bulky waste like limbs and large appliances only up to one day before the scheduled pickup under EMMC 8.05.450, and bans curbside disposal of construction debris, tires, batteries, hazardous materials, and similar items. EMMC 8.05.290 requires any bulky waste stored temporarily to be kept safe, and appliances must have doors removed or sealed.

Dumpster Rules

Eagle Mountain requires commercial storage zone businesses to keep dumpsters out of view of the street. EMMC 17.38.060(C) bars storing trash, wrecked vehicles, or wrecked equipment in the open, requires such materials to stay inside a fully enclosed building, and specifically requires that garbage dumpsters be located out of sight and away from roads.

The planning director enforces Title 17 development standards under EMMC 17.15.020(E), which authorizes investigating possible violations of the title and initiating proceedings to correct violations, meaning the operator can be required to relocate or screen the dumpster before the city signs off on continued operation.
