Ceres, CA Building Safety: Building Permits (2026)

The City of Ceres adopted the 2022 California Building Code (Title 24, Part 2) by reference to regulate the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, wiring, plumbing, use, height, area, and maintenance of every building and structure in the city. Under the amended Section 105.3.1, the Building Official reviews the application, plans, and specifications, and issues the permit once the work conforms to the code and required fees are paid. A permit issued under Section 105.5 (as amended) expires if the authorized work is not completed within two years of issuance; after that it becomes null and void and a new permit, at half the original fee if within one year, full fee after, is required to resume work.
