Jefferson Parish's carbon monoxide detector rule lives inside the guest room minimum standards for lodging accommodations, not in the general residential building code. 5-2 requires every guest room or dwelling unit offered for rent as a bed and breakfast, hotel, motel, or short-term rental to meet baseline habitability standards, including a proper entry door, a toilet room, a bathtub or shower, and working heating and air conditioning; item (8) of that section adds the life-safety equipment.
