Rather than an overnight-hours ban, the parish limits how long a vehicle may remain on the public way. Sec. 36-88 makes it unlawful to park, stop or leave a vehicle standing on any street, highway, roadway, shoulder or curb for longer than 48 consecutive hours. A car parked overnight is fine, but one left several nights running violates the 48-hour rule and can be tagged and towed. Posted no-parking zones and metered or restricted areas may impose stricter overnight limits. Incorporated cities within the parish set their own overnight rules.
Over-limit vehicles are tagged by code enforcement and towed under Article V; the owner pays accrued towing and storage fees plus penalties to redeem it.
