Moore County, NC Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Sec. 5-41 forms the whole of Chapter 5's Article III; like the building code article next to it, the county left no separate local electrical permit-application text of its own. The section dates to the same November 10, 1977 motion of the Board of Commissioners that established the building code article and was amended December 19, 2011 to track the state's adoption cycle. The North Carolina Electrical Code, which the county adopts, in turn incorporates the National Electrical Code, so a Moore County electrical permit ultimately answers to the national model code as the state has amended it.

As with general building permits, the fee section the county once maintained locally, former Sec. 5-1, covering permit fees from that same 1977 motion, 'has been removed' per the editor's note under that section, leaving no separate Moore County electrical permit fee table in the current code. The same one-sentence, by-reference pattern repeats across the rest of Chapter 5's trade articles: the Gas Code at Sec. 5-81, the Heating and Air Conditioning Code at Sec. 5-101, and the Plumbing Code at Sec. 5-151 are each adopted the identical way, so an electrical permit sits inside the same enforcement structure as the county's other trade codes rather than under a rule unique to electrical work.
