Full Breakdown
In the unincorporated area of Tehama County, California, all electrical work tied to construction, alteration, moving, demolition, repair or use of a building must comply with the 2022 California Electrical Code (Title 24, Part 3) and the 2022 National Electrical Code, adopted by County Code § 15.20.030. Tehama County Code § 15.02.310 separately requires a building official permit before most electrical work begins, with limited listed exemptions. Red Bluff, Corning and the City of Tehama enforce their own codes, not this county chapter.
Violations & Fines
Working without a required permit lets the building official record a notice of noncompliance against the property with the county recorder until a permit is obtained and the work passes inspection.
