Full Breakdown
Tehama County Code § 17.77.040(F) exempts non-construction maintenance of residential property from the county's noise ordinance only when the work happens between 7 a.m. and sunset Monday through Friday, or between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, and only if the machinery carries correctly functioning sound-suppression equipment. Run a mower, leaf blower, chainsaw or similar equipment outside those hours, or without a working muffler, and the activity falls under the general noise-nuisance standards in § 17.77.030 instead. This rule reaches only the unincorporated county. Red Bluff, Corning and the City of Tehama enforce their own municipal noise codes.
Violations & Fines
Violating the hours or equipment rule triggers the Chapter 17.77 enforcement process: county investigation, a citation or abatement order, and referral to the district attorney if the owner does not comply.
