Every new building and major remodel in unincorporated Glenn County has to meet the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), Title 24 Part 11, which the Board of Supervisors adopted as local law in Glenn County Code Section 15.72.135. The county building official checks a project's mandatory CALGreen measures at the same plan-check stage as the rest of the Building Code.
The 2025 California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 11 also known as the California Green Building Standards Code, copies of which are on file as required by law, are hereby adopted and incorporated into this chapter by reference; are declared to be the green building standards code for the county and shall apply to the unincorporated areas of the County. As with the rest of Title 15's building standards, failing to meet an adopted CALGreen requirement is enforced as a code violation under Glenn County Code Section 1.12.010: a first offense is an infraction, and "every person who violates a particular regulatory or prohibitory provision of this code three or more times is guilty of a misdemeanor for the third and every subsequent violation... during any 12-month period," with each day of continued noncompliance a separate offense.
