Sparks, NV Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

100 adopts the 2024 Edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code, chapters 2 through 17 with listed appendix chapters, as the plumbing code enforced by the City of Sparks. 1 makes a permit mandatory before anyone erects, installs, alters, repairs, removes, converts, or replaces a plumbing system regulated by the code. 2 draws the exemption line precisely: stopping leaks in drains, water, soil, waste, or vent pipe doesn't need a permit, but if a concealed trap or pipe is defective enough that it has to be removed and replaced with new material, that work counts as new work and needs a permit and inspection.

Clearing a stoppage or repairing a leak in a pipe, valve, or fixture, and replacing that valve or fixture, is also exempt, as long as the fix doesn't touch or rearrange any concealed water, soil, waste, or vent piping. 2, and if submittal documents are required, the plan review fee is 75 percent of the building permit fee, payable at submittal. 5, collected whether or not a permit is ultimately issued. Once issued, a plumbing permit is only good for 180 days: if work hasn't started or has been abandoned for that long, the permit lapses, and the building official can grant a written extension or require half the original fee to renew it.
