Baton Rouge's Unified Development Code Chapter 11 establishes dimensional standards for all zoning districts, including maximum lot coverage and minimum front, side, and rear yard setbacks for single-family and multi-family residential zones.
Title 7 of the Baton Rouge Code of Ordinances incorporates the Unified Development Code (UDC). Chapter 11 (Dimensional Regulations, December 2021 edition) sets lot coverage maximums, minimum lot sizes, and setback requirements by zoning district. Low-density single-family zones (A1: max 4.1 units/acre; A2: max 5.8 units/acre) are subject to dimensional tables in Β§11.A and related tables. Multi-family uses abutting A1 or A2 districts face additional side-yard and rear-yard buffers. The UDC Chapter 11 PDF is available at brla.gov. Enforcement is by the Permits and Inspections Division and Planning Commission.
Violations of dimensional standards are enforced under UDC Chapter 6; penalties include stop-work orders, fines, and required removal or modification of non-conforming structures.
