Prince George's County's 2022 Zoning Ordinance sets minimum yard depths by base zone. In the common RSF-65 single-family zone, the minimums are 25 feet front, 8 feet side, and 20 feet rear, with a 25-foot street-side setback on corner lots.
Section 27-4202 fixes minimum yard depths for each residential base zone; setbacks vary by zone density. In the Residential Single-Family-65 (RSF-65) Zone, a single-family detached dwelling requires a minimum 25-foot front yard, 8-foot side yards, and a 20-foot rear yard, and on corner lots the side yard alongside the street must be at least 25 feet. Accessory structures may sit in a required side or rear yard but not in a required front yard or corner-lot side yard (27-5202). Measurement rules and permitted encroachments (porches, eaves) are in Section 27-2200. Bowie, Laurel, and College Park administer their own zoning and may differ.
Building within a required yard without a variance, or an accessory structure in a prohibited front/corner-side yard, is a zoning violation and can block permit approval or require relocation.
