" Under subsection (E), "Business uses; automotive," the classification "Automobile repair, body shop, auto dealership, and auto wash garage" is marked PR (Prohibited use) in R-1, R-2, and R-3, the county's three residential zoning districts, and also PR in A, the Agricultural district covering most of the unincorporated county's farmland. The same use is SE (Special Exception, requiring Board of Zoning Appeals approval) in LB (Local Business) and I (Industrial), PR in AB (Accommodation Business), SC (Shopping Center), and IR (Industrial Reserve), and U (permitted by right) only in GB (General Business).

Practically, this means a resident cannot lawfully run a paid auto-repair, body-shop, dealership, or wash-garage operation out of a home garage anywhere in the county's residential districts, nor on land zoned Agricultural, even as a side business; the use has to move to a General Business-zoned parcel to operate by right, or the operator has to win a discretionary Special Exception from the Board of Zoning Appeals in a Local Business or Industrial district.
