Abington Township requires a building permit before anyone constructs a swimming pool, bathing place, artificial body of water, or any excavation more than two feet deep that could collect water within 300 feet of a property line. Section 149-1 of the Township Code puts the Building Inspector in charge of issuing that permit and sets the fee: $10 per 100 square feet for aboveground pools, and $25 plus $10 per $1,000 of contract price for in-ground pools.

The fence can have no vertical gap wider than two inches and no horizontal rail usable as a foothold, and every gate must lock.
