Zoning Restrictions
The City of Albany allows home occupations as an accessory use in residential districts under USDO §375-303 (Use-Specific Standards). The home occupation must be conducted by a person who lives in the dwelling as their primary residence, it cannot occupy more than 25% of the gross floor area of the dwelling OR 500 square feet (whichever is less), and it must remain clearly secondary to the residential use of the property. The approval expires automatically when the operator stops living in the home.
