Sidewalk Repair
Antioch Municipal Code section 7-8.02 puts sidewalk maintenance and repair squarely on the owner of the abutting property, not the city. Owners pay for surface repairs, curb and gutter work, weed and debris removal, and root pruning under procedures drawn from the California Streets and Highways Code. If an owner refuses to act, the city can do the work itself and place a lien.

The owner is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the sidewalk area and shall pay the cost and expense of repair and maintenance, including any charge by the city for inspection and administration and costs of collection of assessments and handling of any lien placed on the property due to failure of the owner to promptly pay such assessments per § 7-8.06.
