Escondido's outdoor lighting ordinance requires new fixtures on commercial, industrial, and multifamily properties over six units to be shielded, with a correlated color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin or less. Non-conforming lighting must be brought into compliance once 50% of a property's fixtures are replaced. Fixtures within 100 feet of a signalized intersection must be shielded so glare never interferes with traffic signals. A willful violation is an infraction.
