Austin's Development Services Department Code Compliance division handles property maintenance, zoning, and building code violations. Reports can be submitted by dialing 3-1-1 (or 512-974-2000 from outside Austin), through the Austin 311 website at 311.austintexas.gov, or via the Austin 311 mobile app. After submission, an automatic service request is created and routed to the appropriate inspector. A case number is assigned for tracking through the Citizen Connect online tool, which allows searches by address, case number, or region. Anonymous complaints are accepted. For case updates, residents can call Code Connect at 512-974-2633. Common reportable violations include high grass/weeds, illegal dumping, junk vehicles, unpermitted construction, and substandard housing conditions.
No penalty for reporting. False or frivolous reports may be reviewed.
