Section 2-541(c) starts the clock once a violation notice has been posted at the property. The inspector's supervisor opens a numbered file and tries to reach the property owner or the person responsible for the violation. The desired outcome is correction within the next five working days; if the violator corrects the condition and pays the required penalties within that window, the case closes after a follow-up inspection confirms the violation is cleared.

If the five working days pass without correction, Section 2-541(d) requires the inspector's supervisor to notify the owner or creator of the violation by certified mail. That notice must include the file number and date, the specific chapter and section violated, a written description and location of the violation, the number of days left to correct it, a statement that monetary penalties will keep mounting daily, and a warning that the parish can seek reimbursement of its costs.

If the violation still is not corrected and the penalties remain unpaid after that follow-up period, Section 2-541(e) directs the inspector's supervisor to send the numbered violation file to the district attorney's office or a parish constable for further legal action, either to force correction or to collect the penalties and reimbursement costs owed. Dangerous conditions that threaten health or safety skip straight to the accelerated process in subsection (f), which can result in a cease-and-desist letter and a suit filed within 24 hours.
