Tree Removal & Heritage Trees

In unincorporated Cowlitz County, removing a hazard or diseased tree from a mapped critical area or its buffer needs planning clearance from the county first, under CCC § 19.15.070(G)(2). The landowner must then replant at a two-to-one ratio with native species, and this rule does not cover routine tree removal outside a critical area.
