Agricultural Zoning Protection
Dorchester County's AR, Agricultural Residential District exists specifically to protect working farms in low-density rural areas. Section 9.1.1 states the district's intent is to preserve the viability of existing agricultural operations and natural resource areas, backed by a one-unit-per-acre density cap under Section 9.1.5.

The intent of this district is to provide for agricultural and residential use in rural portions of the County which are experiencing low or no development pressures.
