Outdoor Burning

Open burning is allowed in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, but materials that give off black smoke or odors, such as plastic, asphalt, rubber, and oil waste, cannot be burned except under a land use permit or with prior written approval from the state, under Matanuska-Susitna Borough Code § 8.75.050. Unlike most of Title 8, this chapter reaches inside Palmer, Wasilla, and Houston too.
