Milwaukee County does not regulate fence heights - all 19 municipalities (10 cities, 9 villages) adopt their own fence rules under Wis. Stat. sec. 62.23 and sec. 61.35. Common pattern: 4 ft maximum in front yards, 6 ft maximum in side and rear yards. City of Milwaukee permits 6 ft fences in side/rear yards and 4 ft in front yards. Wauwatosa allows up to 6 ft in side/rear yards (4.5 ft without a permit), with front yard fences capped at 3 ft and requiring a permit. West Allis allows 6 ft side/rear and prohibits fences in required front yards (Revised Municipal Code sec. 13.31). Vision-triangle restrictions at corners typically cap fences at 3 ft.
