The Taylor County Commissioners Court restricts the use of fireworks on county roads and rights-of-way under a Fireworks Order, and may further restrict the sale and use of 'restricted fireworks' (skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins) under Texas Local Government Code Β§352.051 when drought conditions exist (Keetch-Byram Drought Index of 575 or greater). Discharging fireworks is banned inside Abilene's city limits. Burn bans are imposed frequently in this semi-arid region; the county lifted its burn ban effective April 13, 2026.
