2 rules for unincorporated Whatcom County, Washington.
Verified from official government sources
Door-to-door sellers in Whatcom County's cities, including Bellingham, Lynden, and Ferndale, generally need a peddler or solicitor license from that city. Everywhere in the county, Washington law gives buyers three business days to cancel a home solicitation sale.
RCW 63.14.154
sending notice of such cancellation to the seller at his or her place of business as set forth in the contract or charge agreement by certified mail, return receipt requested, which shall be posted not later than midnight of the third day (excluding Sundays and holidays) following the date the buyer signs the contract or charge agreement.
Whatcom County keeps no county-wide do-not-knock registry. A posted "No Soliciting" or "No Trespassing" sign carries legal weight: a solicitor who enters or stays after that notice can be cited for criminal trespass under Washington law.
RCW 9A.52.080
A person is guilty of criminal trespass in the second degree if he or she knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in or upon premises of another under circumstances not constituting criminal trespass in the first degree.
